I overheard a couple’s conversation, rather ranting overweight issues, as the man couldn’t fit into a pair of jeans and he felt quite embarrassed. I felt bad for the guy. Everything he said completely showed how little people know about the importance of nutrition. He said to his wife,
- I eat nothing at night
- I skip my breakfast
- I am living on fruits
What else do I do?
Then and there this post happened. And, I knew there is a lot to tell which is why I decided to do this part in series. If you’re in a similar situation then this post is for you. Read it over and over sulk in it. Understand and take action.
Just so you know I have been there and still, I am nowhere close to perfection. And it’s okay. I am work-in-progress and so are you. Let me make it simpler for you. Let’s start small. I know we Indians can’t live with having our morning tea. And, no matter what happens nobody compromises on it. I understand guys. All I said is to not start your day with tea, have something before it and then have tea or coffee whatever kicks you.

When we sleep in the night our blood sugar levels drop and in morning time our liver stores are empty. This is the reason why babies always wake up in the night; they wake up when their blood sugar drops. And this is the reason why we feel so low in the morning. Start your day with fruit. It is nutritious and will fill you up with the energy you need for the entire day. It gets easily digested but no sugar, salt, and masala free. And one more thing no juices for god’s sake, when you juice out the fruit what you get is only fructose with no fiber and fruits without fiber is only sugar which is not good for the body. It also promotes growth and repair in the body. Our body cannot store protein and undigested protein is simply a waste but chewing your food properly ensures better digestion of food (protein) which helps in wear and tear. Advocating healthy eating habits are good but the way you consume your food equally matters. It is easy and doable. This is the simplest we can do.

Salads are waistline busters! Go Green! So, next time before you ditch salad thinks twice. Salads can support you in your weight loss journey tremendously. “Mindful eating” sounds corny right? But it’s not, trust me. If you want a proof then watch yourself having a meal. So before getting into mindful eating let’s see what mindless eating looks like. Chances are you’re watching something on your laptop or digging yourself into the phone or talking to someone what’s next. It means you don’t know what your food tastes like; you don’t feel how your food tastes like when it melts into your mouth. You don’t feel the aroma of the food, flavor of the spices. This is what I call mindless eating.
In order regain the balance of our life, we need mindful eating. It means touching your food, feeling the aroma, taste, the sound of chewing the food. Yes, it happens when you are connected to yourself. These days’ people are so out and about that it’s hard to feel that way. Everyone is in a rush nobody wants to stop in the moment and feel it. Humans have become machines. We need nothing new technology to get us into shape and form, all is we need is to have that sense of connection with ourselves. If you’re reading this far trust me you’re on your way. Be present when you eat. Do nothing except eating. Just like your girlfriend wants all your attention so does your food.

Bonus Tip 1: Eat Local Think Global

Show love to your own food that comes from your soil. Be traditional. Eat what your grandmother use to eat or eating in today’s day and age. Don’t chase hot calender bodies.Be the best version of you. Eat what is coming from your soil than some alien food. And few fruits and vegetables are so freaking exotic that you can’t even pronounce them. Never buy anything you can’t even utter. Eat local and seasonal fruits and vegetables they’re high on nutritional value, they come from nearby and most importantly they are cheaper. Remember the food cycle we talked about, for my new readers let’s recall a bit. See just like you travel from your house to market to get the fruits or vegetables to your house. The same way your food also travel from the farm to the market then to the stores and places where it is stored and then bought by us and again stacked in our pantries and if the food is lucky enough it will make it to the table as well.
It really doesn’t matter how healthy food habits you make how expensive fruit you buy and ate. It serves no value if it is zero on nutrition. At least one must consume food for the value it brings. Learn to be smart with your healthy eating habits.

The food stored as fat will be burned by eating the right food at the right time.
